Dr. Mehdi Semati is Associate Professor of Communication at Eastern Illinois University. His writings on the Iranian media, international communication, the Middle East in Western popular media, the cultural politics of global media, and media and terrorism have appeared in various academic journals and books. His books include Media, Culture, and Society in Iran: Living with Globalization and the Islamic State (Routledge 2007) and New Frontiers in International Communication Theory (Rowman & Littlefield, 2004). He co-edited Studies in Terrorism: Media Scholarship and Enigma of Terror (Southbound, 2003) and, The Age of CNN and Hollywood: National Interests, Transnational Communication (Nashr-e Nay, 2006).
